The Other Side of Beauty: Yellow III

The Other Side of Beauty: Yellow III April 2005 in Khao Lak, Thailand
An article I read years ago in National Geographic magazine referenced the re-emergence of nature after the eruption of Mount St. Helens. A snippet from the article, about how wildflowers were some of the first signs of recovery, kept running through my mind while walking the devastated beaches in Thailand’s Khao Lak. Stunning floral reminders of the beauty of nature were emerging once again in the midst of destruction. Many ornate flowers, that had been in the gardens of hotels and bungalows -- now little more than heaps of rubble -- were in stunning bloom.
